The Perfect Indoor Exercising Machine - What is It?

“You are looking a little more hunched….and you look funny with a belly!” These were the words from my closest friend when she came visiting. Not that we had not met for ages, but rather living alone and without too much care for the food I took daily had ensured I had gone somewhat lazy, and had neglected to take care of my physical self.

Hair unkempt and long, with a belly and a little hunch - all these made me looked older than my age. And of course, a deterioration of the physical side and probably my health. When has it been that a belly is associated with good health? God forbid, I had better start an exercise regime to get back into shape, and salvage my health.

But what should I do?

Well, my commonsense tells me I should be putting myself to some workout at home, and start to exercise somewhat.

Should I get a exercise workbench, or start to pump some irons? Should I join the masses of people who run around the Lake nearby at the break of dawn or go climb the hills nearby and walk through the woods nearing sunset?

What is the best form of exercise for a home bound man and needing some results fast?

My best friend chipped in. She said, ” Go get a Treadmill!”.

Consider these benefits:

1. The treadmill is unsurpassed for a cardiovascular workout.

2. It works the large muscles in your body.

3. You get the maximum burn of your calories with a treadmill.

4. Whether you are a casual walker or a serious runner, a treadmill can accommodate your exercise needs.

5. A treadmill can guarantee a consistent workout in all seasons.

6. Higher end treadmills offer surfaces that absorb impact and reduce pressure. Injuries are less common and stress is reduced on those critical joints.

7. You can engage in simulations such as walking uphill, speed training etc as treadmills become more sophisticated and offers versatility of the workout by a variety of preprogrammed computerized exercises.

I looked at my best friend, and there she was - looking youthful for her age, a slender body that could attract anyone, fit and in the best of health.

Her secret? She uses a treadmill everyday!

Now that I know, I am out to select a treadmill.

Peter Lim is a Certified Financial Planner. Arising from this incident when his best friend suggested that he should get back to shape, he has done intensive research into treadmills and has put his results into the web site “The Proform Treadmill Guide” http://www.dynamic-guides.info/proform-treadmill in the hope it will benefit and help someone else.

Choosing the Right Treadmill

Home treadmills are becoming a common feature in many homes. Prices can be as low as $399 it is no surprise that many people decide to purchase one. It provides a great form of exercise, you don’t have to pay monthly fees for a gym or have to work out in front of vein bodybuilders.
However when buying a treadmill the prices can range from $399 up to thousands of dollars. So what is the difference between a treadmill that costs a few hundred or one that costs a few thousand? This articles aims to answer some of the questions you may have before buying a treadmill and give you the confidence to go out and know what you are buying.

Horsepower

One of the main factors in buying a treadmill is what horsepower to go for. “Horsepower” is applied to two different ratings–”peak duty rating” and “continuous duty rating.” The peak duty rating is advertised on a treadmill tag. The continuous duty rating is stamped directly on the motor and is the rating that determines its quality and duration.

In general, the larger and heavier the motor is, the cooler it will run and the longer it will last. Penn State Sports Medicine Newsletter recommends purchasing a machine with at least 1.5 continuous duty horsepower–higher if you weigh more than 185 pounds or plan to run on the treadmill. (But be sure to check the voltage. Some treadmills with heavy motors are 220, which won’t work in most homes.) A brief guideline of what horsepower to aim for is below.

Your workout Your workout Recommended horsepower

<180 lbs Walking/light jogging 1.5 + hp (1.25 minimum)

Up to 220 lbs Walking/light jogging 2.0 hp

Above 220 lbs Walking/light jogging 2.5 hp

Any weight Speed training 2.5 hp

Construction.

The thickness of the walking deck and the size of the walking track should also be high on your list of priorities. The thickness of the deck affects the comfort of the legs and feet with prolonged use. Choose a treadmill that has a deck thickness of at least 3/4 inch, or one inch if you plan to do both walking and jogging.

The walking track needs enough length (at least 48 inches) and width (at least 17 inches) for you to walk comfortably without stepping off the track. If you plan to run on your new treadmill, you may want a longer track. Test it while you are in the store.

The “buzz” feature these days is definitely shock absorption. To provide effective cushioning for the legs, feet and back, the treadmill’s suspension must be directly under the walking deck. (Some treadmills may have “shock absorbers” on the legs of the treadmill so you can see the frame bounce while you are walking. This is not effective shock absorption!) The padding can be made of foam or rubber. Foam is softer and more compressible than rubber, but requires more time to return to its original thickness after impact. Rubber instantly recovers to full thickness and is better able to maintain its energy absorption level. Again, test the machine yourself.

Extras.

These are less important features of a treadmill and really only depend one what your budget is. The less expensive treadmills have the basics: speed, distance, incline, time and calories. The more expensive treadmills also have a range of special preset exercise programs that automatically alter speed and incline, varying high-intensity effort with lower-intensity effort. Some treadmills even measure your heart rate!

Service and Warranties

Ask the dealer about delivery and setup. Sometimes this is included in the price–and other times, it’s not. Also, check out the service and warranty policies.

The minimum warranty on a fairly good treadmill is 90 days parts and service. The better treadmills will carry a three-year warranty on the motor and two years on the drive train. As for who will be responsible for servicing a treadmill when it has problems–the store you purchased it from. So if the store offers a good guarantee, chances are the machine won’t need servicing very often!

If you choose a quality electric treadmill, it will last for years and provide great versatility for your cardiovascular program. Find a good specialty equipment store in your area that can help you find the treadmill you need.

3 Ways to Improve Your Credit Score by 50 Points In Less Than 30 Days

In Less Than 30 Days.

“What can you do to increase that set of three numbers on your
credit report that can be so important with your financing?”

I came across this question as I was surfing discussion groups
the other day. Check out my answer:

Dear Friend,

Here are 3 steps I used to take my credit score from 592
(horrible credit) to 762 (perfect credit) almost overnight.
If you’re interested in improving your credit rating quickly,
you’ll find this story helpful:

In 1995 I made a decision that would ruin my perfect credit
history. I quit my salary job to become an insurance salesman.
The job paid commission only. Within a few months I lost
everything - house, car, credit rating and my self respect.

By the end of 1996 I was living with my mom, all my credit
accounts were severely past due, and I was paying 22%
interest on a broke-down green Geo Storm…I was a real loser.

Then, in 1997, I became a banker. I didn’t know it at the time,
but this would turn out to be the break I needed to eliminate my
credit problems forever.

During my seven years as a banker, I came across several
legal and highly effective ways to improve my credit rating.
As a result, I was able to increase my credit scores by an
average of 170 points.

Here’s what I did:

Step #1:
After spending hundreds of dollars on credit repair services that
didn’t work, I found out how to get negative accounts removed
on my own.

Basically, I wrote letters to the collection agencies requesting
proof that the accounts were mine. 89% of the time they had
no proof that the bad accounts belonged to me. So I was able
to get them deleted from my credit file.

Step #2:
I opened new accounts with high credit limits and kept the
balances low.

I discovered that if you keep your available credit limits high and
only use 10% to 30% of the credit you have available, your
credit score will improve dramatically.

Step #3:
Next, I added accounts with years of perfect payment history to
my credit file. This step took my credit score from 647 to 762.

While you can certainly add seasoned accounts to your credit
file for free, there are companies that claim they can do it for
a fee.

The problem is, they charge between $2,000 and $2,500 per
account. If you want a 700+ credit score you’ll need 3 to 4 of
these accounts. That equates to a cost of $6,000 to $10,000.

(You can conduct a search on your favorite search engine for
companies that offer this service.)

While there are several highly effective steps you can take to
increase your credit scores by as much as 200 points, these
are the main ones…And here’s the good news: Each step can
be completed in less than 30 days.

BSkyB Set to Challenge iTunes’ Market Dominance

The Mobile World Congress held at Barcelona saw an interesting first day, with BSkyB announcing that it is on the verge of launching a music download service that would compete with the market leader in this category Apple’s iTunes. They are not alone in this endeavour and their services would be launched in partnership with Omnifone.

BSkyB’s offer is that they will charge a minimal monthly fee from Sky and non-Sky broadband customers and in return, offer unlimited access to digital music services and free downloads. In addition, music lovers would face no problems such as those because of Digital Rights Management when saving their favourite music.

This announcement could be a breakthrough move for the music industry as it tries to save itself from the onslaught of music piracy. The industry’s leading body IFPI (International Federation of the Phonographic Industry) had earlier observed that music piracy and file sharing was eating into their revenues as it accounted for almost 95% of all the music downloaded in 2008. This percentage equates to a staggering 40 billion tracks being downloaded illegally across the globe.

BSkyB’s spokesperson further said that they had already entered deals with leading labels such as Universal Music who have recently represented upcoming artists like Amy Winehouse and Kanye West. Although the launch of BSkyB’s services has been delayed a bit, they have used that time to involve some major labels and music publishers. Also discussed at the event were the growing problems of music piracy and measures that could be employed to limit it, such as enforcing some sort of a music download tax.

Credit Fraud Secrets Thieves Don’t Want You To Know

Have you ever been a victim of credit card fraud? If so, you know just how traumatic it can be. What’s more, if you don’t detected it early enough, it could leave bad marks on your credit report that could haunt you for many years. The most commonly thought of credit card fraud is when your wallet or purse is stolen, and the thief uses your credit cards to make unauthorized purchases.

But, with the increasing rate of online buying, another form of credit card fraudknown as misappropriationis spreading like wildfire. These days the only thing a thief needs to create havoc on your credit life is your credit card numbernot your actual card.

Here are just a few ways that this type of fraud can happen to you:

* One day your telephone rings, you answer and the person on the other end of the line tells you that they have a one time special offer, good for today onlyand that you simply need to provide them with your credit card number to make a purchase. STOP! Don’t ever give out your credit card number to anyone who calls you. Only provide this kind of information if you have called the company to place an order, and you are positive that it is a well-established reputable business.

* You find that someone has gone through your trash. Then when you receive your credit card statement, you find that there are dozens of unauthorized charges. STOP! Always tear up your credit card receipts and bank statements before putting them in the trash. Better yet, buy a paper shredder from a local office supply. Many thieves go through unguarded trash bags specifically looking for your credit card staments.

* You go out to eat in a restaurant and pay the bill with your credit card. On your next credit card statement, you notice that there are unauthorized charges that started the same day as your restaurant meal. It turns out that the waiter made an extra imprint of your card when he rung up your bill, and then used the number to go shopping. The solution? Many restaurants have placed their credit card processing centers in plain view of the customer’s sight to combat this problem. If not, you could follow the waiter to the charge station, and watch him throughout the process. It’s also important to make sure that they know that they are being watched.

You may be wondering if there are other measures that you can take to make sure you aren’t a victim of credit card fraud? Yes there is and here are a few suggestions.

* If possible, carry your credit cards and other bank information somewhere other than your wallet or purse. This way, if a thief nabs it, you will be out only your cashnot your credit cards.

* Another way is to only take the credit card that you intend to use that dayleave the others at home.

* Make a list of all your credit cards and keep it in a safe place, make sure to list the numbers and contact information of the issuing company. That way, if you do lose them, you’ll have the information necessary to contact the credit card company as soon as you notice the theft.

* Never sign a blank receipt, and always be sure to cross out blank lines. For example, if you bought something that didn’t require a tip, cross out the tip line so nobody can add to it later.

* If you’re making a purchase online, be sure that you do so via a secure site.

* If you move, report your new address to your credit card issuer immediately. Also fill out a change of address form at the post office. Sneaky thieves are on the look out for people moving, and then watch the mailbox of the old house, hoping that they can intercept a credit card statement.

Following the above suggestions doesn’t guarantee you’ll never be a victim of credit card fraud, but it will greatly reduce your chances.

Fast Credit Repair - You Can Do it Today!

One of the most distressful financial horrors is bad credit. People who face bad credit usually seek to get rid of it by employing the services of an independent agency. However, with the countless number of such companies all offering their own array of services, it can get difficult to go after the most viable choice. Moreover, the fact that these agencies make it sound perplexed does not help the matter very much. Added to that is the problem of acquiring a loan with the current global economic position; banks now ask for exceptionally high credit ratings before granting a loan on good terms. If you happen to be one of those people whose financial standing has been damaged because of bad credit, then fast credit repair is what you need. Remember, that you do not need to have specific knowledge on fast credit repair. You can get out of that dreaded credit rating without necessarily having to engage the services of a third party and pay sky high service bills.

Consistent use of credit cards is one of the main reasons for bad credit. Avoid using a credit card where it’s not necessary. And if you can, try to arrange a monthly limit on your credit card, so you don’t end up spending more than your limit. This is one of the strategies used for fast credit repair and will help keep your credit card bills low. Furthermore, shut off any other unneeded credit accounts. They may not accrue you any visible expenses, their appearance on your credit reports can hurt your aggregate score. You’ll find out that fast credit repair is not really difficult!

People often tend to disregard the simple approaches to fast credit repair. They do not deal with the problem themselves. Instead, they hire expensive services. These services do nothing extraordinary. They evaluate the credit statements of the individual and draw up a conclusion based on their findings. This task is not difficult, rather something that can easily be accomplished by the individual himself. Thus, people are better off doing the simple things themselves, instead of paying expensive fees to get them done elsewhere. Since, towards the end of the day, pulling yourself out of bad credit is something you need to accomplish yourself, and not the business you’ve engaged the services of.

Excellent Skiing Conditions across the European Alps

We have had approximately two metres of snowfall in the last 7 days. It was so deep that ski lifts were shut down, the local train has been stopping at Chamonix and not heading to Le Tour. Several roads have been closed past our luxury chalet and weather warnings published.

Contrast this to a couple of winter seasons past, when there was the unusually warm February weather conditions, rocks appearing on the pistes, and reports that climate change would mean the death of skiing in the European Alps. The study from winter 2007 warned that global warming would make skiing holidays too pricey for a lot of skiers, with one 3rd of skiing resorts shutting and the receding of alpine glaciers. Glaciologists assert that it’s unimaginable to ascribe the seasonal deviations in the weather to the consequences of climate change.

We could have the longest downturn in almost 25 years, and the Sterling has plummeted to more lows against the Euro, but the snow is superb, and the recent bookings highlight that people are eager to enjoy the first-class snow. Its probably the best in eight winters, and lots of skiers are saying its the nicest skiing snow in at least ten yrs.

Even so recall that this amount of snow means big avalanches risks.
