Naveen Jain founded Intelius, an information technology company that offers a wide range of information-based services that includes background check and ID theft prevention services. The company gathers data from publicly-available databases to produce comprehensive reports about specific individuals. Its clients can then use this information to make informed decisions to better protect themselves, their loved ones, and their assets.
Prior to establishing Intelius, Jain founded InfoSpace in 1996, a company that greatly benefited from the dot-com boom. When the company made its Wall Street debut on December 15, 1998, its stock soared, making the company worth at least $400 million. So successful was InfoSpace that at one time, its worth was estimated to be $30 billion.
Naveen Jain served as InfoSpace’s CEO and chairman until December of 2002. The company is known for offering metasearch services.
Even years before co-founding his own companies, Naveen Jain was no stranger to working with corporate giants — Jain worked for Microsoft as a senior executive from 1989 to 1996, overseeing the development of several operating systems.
Naveen Jain was born and raised in India where he obtained his engineering undergraduate degree at the Indian Institute of technology (IIT, Roorkee). He went on to earn his MBA at the Xavier Institute of Management. Naveen Jain then left for the U.S. to closely look into the emerging technology market and the rest is history.
Naveen Jain’s success has not lulled him into resting on his laurels — the India-born entrepreneur has been actively engaged in philanthropic endeavors. Naveen Jain generously gave support to an assortment of organizations that seek to promote children, education, feeding the hungry and providing quality medical care to the uninsured. Organizations like United Way, Children’s Hospital, HopeLink, Tree House, Boys and Girls Club, America India Foundation, Vedic Cultural Center, Seattle Art Museum, Children Rights & You, and the University of Washington has benefitted from his generosity.
