A relatively new concept in the online world is “Virtual Real Estate Investing“. Everything from using the internet as an avenue to make more money in real estate to online games such as SecondLife seem to be included in the popular definition of this term.
To separate fact from fiction, I asked Bryan Ellis for comments. He’s the man many consider to be the father of this new form of investing.
Ellis says he adopted the term “virtual real estate investing” sometime before Y2K after he realized that making money online is conceptually very similar to making money with physical real estate.
One example of the parallels between virtual and physical real estate Bryan Ellis cites is the similarity between the monetization of domain names versus physical property. He points out that control of a domain name or even a specific web page is much like controlling a real estate property ” those assets can be monetized in similar ways: By selling them for a profit, by leasing them, by offering advertising, etc.
I must admit: Its easy to see the parallels. After all, if you own a valuable piece of real estate, it’s “valuable” because other people are interested in that specific piece of property. Likewise, if you own a desirable domain name, others will find value in it because it serves their purposes. In either case, you could sell or lease the asset and turn it into cash.
In our next installment of this series on virtual real estate investing, Bryan Ellis will share the internet analogies to the physical concept of real estate development.

I love my job in creating and writing although I think it is time to outsource my marketing. I can not seem to achieve the search engine optimisation that I was hoping for so I need to hire a professional. I have great ideas and great products and I do not mind putting in the time to deliver the top quality goods but I have no idea to put together a site where the search engines will pick me up and list me in their top pages. I need more traffic to my website and I need to keep it constant. At what point would it be considered a major turning point for the internet and the advertising and marketing of web sites. It seems that when the major search engines started introducing click through advertising in the early 1990’s that was a major achievement. Then, perhaps it was later in the 1990’s that search engine optimisation really made its mark. With these two introductions on the internet, it seems that it could never be the same again. Now just about anyone with a little hard work and ingenuity could have a well used website with endless possibilities for money making.

Babies can have a ton of little issues, and we worry ourselves silly over them, though most are no real threat to baby’s health. Here are a list of the most common little ailments, how to treat them at home, and when to call the doctor.
Diaper Rash - Diaper rash is caused by baby’s bottom being constantly exposed to wetness. For most babies, changing their diaper a little more often and applying an over the counter cream are enough to solve the problem. If all your measures don’t work, or if the rash looks different than a typical diaper rash, call the doctor.
Cradle Cap - Cradle cap is the presence of scales on the baby’s scalp, and usually occurs in very young infants. It is actually a form of dermatitis, and usually is not bothersome to the child. For most babies, a massage using petroleum jelly followed by a shampoo will take care of the problem. Try this at every bath until the problem stops recurring. Cradle cap is worsened by sweating, so keep your baby’s head cool, avoiding the use of hats. If these measures don’t work, your doctor can prescribe an ointment or shampoo. Babies typically outgrow cradle cap within the first six months of life.
Mystery Fever - Nearly all babies have this at one time or another. A low grade fever, with no other accompanying symptoms. If your baby is under two months of age, you should seek medical attention with any fever. Otherwise, as long as the fever doesn’t go above 102F, you need not treat it unless it is making your baby uncomfortable or unable to sleep. Fever is the body’s way of fighting infection, so don’t rush to treat a fever, if your baby is otherwise healthy. Keep her cool, give her plenty of fluids, watch and wait. Talk to your doctor about his guidelines regarding when to call him concerning a fever. Regardless, any fever which reaches 105 rectally, or a fever accompanied by signs of dehydration (infrequent urination, sunken fontanel, dry lips), or a feverish baby who has a stiff neck, is limp or has purple spots on the skin, should be treated immediately.
These are three of the most common minor baby ailments. Though it’s comforting to know how to treat these at home, never hesitate to call your doctor if you think it’s necessary. A Mother’s intuition is a powerful thing. If you think something’s amiss, it probably is, so check it out, even if it’s only to satisfy your own mind.
That’s the end of this ebook. If you would like more information, you really need to download my main ebook “Mommy to Mommy - The Truth About Taking Care of Baby” from http://www.educatedmother.com. This is a much longer ebook, where I am able to go into a lot more information.

Anyone want to hazard a guess as to what the above
numbers signify?
If you guessed mailings from any one source - bingo!
You win!
When exactly is enough enough? When does something
cross the fine line from useful to ridiculous?
The art of communication is just that - a fine art. To
grab and hold anyone’s attention online for longer
than 2 minutes shows you’ve got something going for
yourself - you understand how and why people do what
they do and read what they read.
While advertisers and marketers look for outstanding
and affordable resources - and 9 times out of 10
choose mailing lists to receive that information - the
list itself must maintain a particular level of quality to
ensure it is a mailing worth reading.
The last thing in the world anyone with a mailing list
wants is an unresponsive list. So, how can we go about
ensuring, to the best of our ability, that that doesn’t
happen?
Priority number 1 should be restraint. While having a
list appears to put potential customers at one’s
fingertips, without restraint that list begins its
slow (and sometimes not so slow) slide into
degradation.
What can one do to avoid this erosion? Is it possible?
I believe it is…
While not everyone will read everything every time, by
one’s use of restraint the opt in reader will stick
around because when they do read, they are receiving
what they asked for - information, resources, tips,
help, etc.
They’ll even read the specials.
But how can you make sure your list retains its value?
Consider dividing your list into “demographics” or
“subscriber interests.”
Now stop groaning… it’s really not that bad and can
be a great boost to your potential sales and a real plus
in the eyes of your readers.
Since I am a publisher, I’ll use the ezine or
newsletter as an example. Subscribers join to receive
one’s ezine daily, weekly, biweekly, monthly, etc.
Right up front, by the very act of subscribing, that
person knows what to expect. They receive it,
hopefully read it, respond to it - a publisher’s dream
subscriber.
Then, the “special” mailings begin to arrive. With
restraint this is typically a solo here, a special
announcement there. This is still manageable in the
eyes of your list. With luck your resource continues
to maintain it’s value.
However, push the envelope with more than the
occasional extra weekly mailing or two, and the slow
slide begins. No one has time to open that many
mailings. Physically it is not possible, and it goes
without saying that mentally no one is prepared to
cope with them all… it’s just common sense.
So, here’s the “How-To” to help yourself and your
readers.
Make GOOD use of your autoresponders!
Your first signup box or mailto link would sign the
new subscriber up to ONLY your ezine or newsletter
(or any customer mailing list). Then, because
autoresponders are so good at this, on the Thank You
page, you just add a SECOND signup box!
This second box, using a 2nd autoresponder, could
say something like:
“In addition to our ezine, would you like to receive
special standalone advertisements? These solos are
purchased by readers just like you about new and
existing programs. The solo is a great way to stay
on top of what’s new on the net. They do they work
for you by delivering themselves right to your
inbox!”
Or,
“By adding yourself using Box B below, you’ll also be
placed on our “Breaking News Only” mailing list.
This is my personal way of contacting those
subscribers interested in hearing about what I’ve
personally located online! I work hard, and these
occasional emails are well worth receiving!”
Of course use your own words
Consider, too, telling your new subscriber to use
a DIFFERENT email address for EACH opt in!
This way they are sure to find your PRIMARY
publication, and can peruse the rest at their leisure
from different email accounts. [Be sure to tell them
that as they enter your Thank You and see your next
subscribe box.]
I know personally I would love this option!
So, you get the idea? You’ve just geometrically increased
the value of every mailing you do, simply by making
good use of your autoresponders. Your readers will
thank you as you let them pick and choose what they
agree to receive
For the ezine publisher in particular this can be a
great boost to your own sales. Who wouldn’t want to
purchase from someone who’s taken the time and effort
to ensure the advertisement is going to someone who
OPTED IN to receive it. (I’m not talking about the ads
that appear inside a regular issue, but the special and
solo type mailings.)
Think about it… a little extra work (and by setting up
your autoresponders in this fashion VERY little work),
on your part on behalf of your readers, and you’ve
more than doubled the effectiveness of your own mailing
list.
This same idea works for any website selling anything.
For example, you have a gift shop that sells stained
glass and crystal figurines. One person loves stained
glass but could do without your mailings about the
crystal. TARGET the list! Increase the potential sale
by giving the person only what they asked to receive.
Too much of any one thing can, and does, turn people
off. Ensure your online business success by paying
attention to detail, and help those receive what
THEY need and want.
It’s all about good, responsive customer service

Affiliate Marketing is one of the best ways to make money from home and affiliate programs provide anyone with internet access a chance to make a living on the internet. Affiliate programs are usually free or very cheap to join, easy to get started and typically pay commissions on a regular basis, so more and more people are turning to them as a means to start a home based business. However, there are a few mistakes affiliate marketers tend to make that hurts their business tremendously.
Avoiding some of these common mistakes made by affiliate marketers should quickly and easily improve your chances of making sales and increase your affiliate commissions. Here are five of the top mistakes made by affiliate marketers:
1) Not researching the affiliate program before your start promoting it
It really is amazing just how many affiliates grab the first affiliate program that comes there way or signup simply because it has a high commission rate or promote it just because every other marketer is promoting it. If the program does not compliment the overall theme of your site, you will find it difficult to convince your visitors and subscribers to purchase the product. Why would they want it if it does not have anything to do with the area you are targeting?
2) Not using your signature file correctly
Many affiliates add a signature file to all of their out-going email messages and forum posts but they do not do it correctly. Twenty lines of text full of affiliate links to a bunch of different products is not considered a good signature file! In fact, it can very easily be considered spam. Try keeping your signature file under five lines with an attention grabbing or intriguing first line and overdo it on the links.
3) Not writing your own ad copy
There’s nothing worse than seeing the exact same advertisement all over the internet or in email messages from ten different marketers. How much perceived value will your message have when it arrives and the reader is seeing it for the tenth time? Take the time to tweak the ad to suit your target audience and subscribers before sending it out. Personalize it to make the ad your own so it doesn’t even seem like an advertisement anymore.
4) Not paying for your own domain name and hosting account
Even novice internet users can tell a free hosted site when they see one. It’s very unprofessional and suggests to your visitors that you haven’t made any money online and probably don’t know what you’re doing. If you haven’t even taken the small step towards setting up your business properly then how can your visitors trust you? Less than $10 a year for a domain name at GoDaddy.com and maybe $5 per month for a small hosting account won’t break your bank account. In fact, it will probably help to add to your account in the long run.
5) Not capturing your leads before you send them on to the affiliate product site
If you spend your time and money marketing to get someone to click on one of your affiliate links then they leave the product site without purchasing, what have you gained? Nothing! You have just lost the time and money it took to get that one click-through in the first place. Set up a squeeze page so you can capture your lead’s email address before you send them on to the product site. That way if they don’t buy you can follow up with them later and try again (and again and again and again). This can be priceless!
Now that you know these five affiliate mistakes to avoid you should be able to make more sales and increase your affiliate commissions by a significant amount. So get out there and become the super affiliate marketer you always knew you could be!

Karma Yoga: Is unity through work and particularly through the act of selfless service. Along with Jnana Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, and Raja Yoga; Karma Yoga is often considered to be one of the four most advanced forms of Yoga. To take selfless action, without expectations, or seeking a reward, is one of the keys to Karma Yoga and also enlightenment.
When I think of Karma Yogis, the first that would come to mind is Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, also known as Mahatma Gandhi. His model of peaceful resistance for civil rights has been successfully copied since, but most importantly, his actions were for the highest moral reasons. He did not seek fame, but fame did come to him. His selfless acts did cost him his health and, unfortunately, his own life. India and the world will always miss his rare wisdom.
You do not have to be enlightened, or give up your life, to follow the path of Karma Yoga, but if you can let go of attachment to the outcome of your action; you are on the path. This one task is most difficult and requires acts of loving kindness to friends, strangers, and those who do not wish you well.
Karma Yoga also requires mindfulness and forgiveness. Why should you give so much of yourself? Surprisingly, the Karma Yogi does receive a priceless reward, but most people do not come to this realization. By giving, forgiving, showing kindness, being mindful, and letting go of attachment, the Karma Yogi experiences freedom. This is freedom from hate, guilt, fear, and greed.
Think of “The Middle Way” as taught by Siddhartha Gautama, also known as “The Buddha.” He taught avoidance of extremes; whether it is pleasure or pain. When you stop hating, you are releasing your own pain from within the depths of your soul. So, you are forgiving, but you are also releasing the burden of hate.
Remember also that when you give in to hate, greed, fear, and guilt; the consequences of your actions will eventually be realized. Therefore, the path of Karma Yoga should be a part of each of our lives. Give to those in need and do not expect a reward. Your reward is that you are in a position to give.
The highest form of Karma Yoga is selfless service to God. It does not matter what name you choose call God, the principle is the same. Selfless service is taking the action to help others. If you can learn to love others, you will learn to love yourself, and establish an even deeper love for God.

Every day, a seemingly countless number of people discouraged by the inevitable limitations of the traditional workplace strike out in a new direction as a home business owner. Although many make wise decisions that result in financial and personal well-being, others make common errors that produce more disappointment and frustration than real profits. One of the most common mistakes is the failure to seek out an online home business plan that truly harnesses the power of technology.
Although thousands upon thousands of business opportunities are offered online, many are little more than old methods sold via a web page. The businesses themselves don’t really take advantage of the Internet revolution at all. They are the same old plans we used to find advertised in magazines and newspapers dressed up with a flashy website.
The smartest home business owners recognize that the growth of the Internet and its amazing ability to offer a low overhead and efficient means of reaching millions of potential customers make those opportunities custom-tailored for today’s high-tech society far more valuable than traditional plans.
If you are considering escaping the nine-to-five world for something more rewarding, focus your attention on online business opportunities that are grounded in a solid understanding of the Internet. Don’t settle for an old-school plan injected with a little bit of “web talk.”
Although any traditional business model can benefit from the use of the Internet, those home business opportunities that are truly designed with today’s technological reality in mind offer the greatest chance for success. Many inadvertently embrace a plan espoused by a clever web site without understanding that the underlying business model is woefully outdated for the modern economy.
Most people interested in a home business want to be able to succeed without making a massive initial investment and without having to constantly tend to traditional “brick and mortar” concerns. True Internet home business plans allow one to do just that! They are built with the Internet economy and its continued explosive growth in mind. These internet home business plans are designed by online experts who recognize the power of automation and residual income streams, instead of relying on tired and limp methods that have run their course.
By seeking out a true Internet home business plan, one can successfully earn both direct and residual income from the comfort of their own home without suffering through the frustration and disappointment of making yesterday’s square pegs fit into today’s round holes.

If your US passport has expired, then it would be wise to renew it as soon as possible. The unpredictability of life suggests that these things should not be left for the last moment as you never know when you would need to travel internationally.
If your previous U.S. passport is less than 15 years old, and you were above 16 years of age at the time you obtained it, or your current passport is not damaged and you still bear the same name, you are eligible to apply for it by mail. However, if you fail to meet these criteria, you will have to apply for it in person. In any other case, you can do so by mail. If the passport has to be renewed via mail then a completed, dated and signed ‘DS-82′ application form must be filled out and sent along with the present or expired passport, two passport-sized photos and the payment. The total fee for renewal comes up to $67. In case the name of the applicant has changed, he must also attach the original (not a mimeographed copy) and a legal document certifying the same. For applicants residing outside the USA, passports can be renewed at the closest US Consulate or US Embassy.
Keeping in mind the value of time of the customers, a reliable service is offered by bodies known as ‘passport expeditors’ who help to speed up the process of passport renewal. This can be done in only 24 hours and can cost around $150 (depending on the passport expeditor), thereby avoiding the cancellation of your travel plans and helping you to keep your spirits high so you can fully enjoy your travel.
US Passport provides detailed information on US Passport, US Passport Application, US Passport Renewal, US Passport Office and more. US Passport is affiliated with US Mint Web Sites.

Buying property at auction can often produce a bargain purchase, but equally there are many pitfalls when buying in this manner. It is quite easy to make a disastrous mistake, so beware. Here are my five top tips to consider when buying a house at auction.
One: Always go and see the property with your own eyes. It may seem so obvious, but you will be surprised how many people don’t. If you don’t inspect yourself, or appoint a qualified advisor to do so, how do you know the location is acceptable? If you don’t go, you could end up buying a house situated under an electricity pylon, or opposite a sewage farm, or even worse, ten yards, or ten feet, from a rapidly eroding clifftop. The property might look incredibly cheap on the glossy pages, but in those cases would it really be so? Don’t be persuaded by fancy colour photographs in the auctioneer’s catalogue, and his flowery descriptions. That’s their job, to sell to unwary buyers. Remember Caveat Emptor: buyer beware. Always see the house with your own eyes, or hire a pair of reliable eyes to see it for you.
Two: Prepare accurate costings. It is pointless buying a house for 100,000 that needs another 100,000 spending on it, if it will only be worth 170,000 after the work is completed. Work out actual costings carefully, and don’t forget to include financial arrangement fees, lawyer’s fees, and if you are planning to sell straight away, your selling costs too, such as Agent’s fees and any loan repayments. Professional fees can quickly add up, and if your potential margin is a little skinny in the first place, you could find those fees eating your entire margin away, or even worse than that, you might even end up having to throw cash at your project to bring it to a successful conclusion. Accurate arithmetic is an essential. Never stray off your planned path.
Three: Set a ceiling limit to your bidding, and NEVER bust it. In the heat of the moment, in the excitement and anticipation of the auction room, a room that can be packed with eager buyers orchestrated by an experienced enthusiastic auctioneer, it is very easy to become sucked into the excitement of the moment. It is very easy to be persuaded to pay more than you meant to. When the auctioneer says laughingly “come on, what’s another 5,000?” Or “you’re not going to miss it for a mere 5,000 are you?” Remember that this is your money he is talking about, coming out of your profit margin. As soon as you hear comments such as that, you should be reacquainting yourself with your absolute maximum figure.
Never forget, it is the auctioneer’s job to relieve the buyers of as much money as possible, and you’re one of the buyers! The auctioneer is NOT your friend, he is not acting for you, he is acting for the seller, so treat them with the utmost care. Set a ceiling price and don’t bust it. There is always another property round the corner; there is always another auction next week or next month. And ask yourself this: would you rather buy the property you really want, at 25,000 over your maximum price, or would you prefer to pick up a bargain next time? Some times it can take a very long time to get rid of a badly bought property. So don’t buy bad!
Four: Read the contract terms, read the auctioneer’s terms. This is most important, for if you don’t read all the small print, what are you letting yourself in for? For example does the auctioneer charge a buyer’s premium? What charges will they levy on you? What methods of payments will they accept? How much of the full cost of the house will they expect you to pay when the hammer falls? If you don’t read all the small print, how will you know what you are agreeing to. The small print is there for a reason, and it is saying something. It is up to you to make sure that you know what that is. Remember, when the hammer falls, you are contracted to buy that property, come what may, and that includes all the terms and conditions that the auctioneer laid down beforehand. There is no turning back. If you don’t know the terms, you are asking for trouble. Read the contract terms thoroughly, every time.
Five: Get to the auction in good time. Find yourself a nice seat and listen carefully to the opening announcements. Just like the terms and conditions, these announcements might be important. You’ll miss them if you arrive twenty minutes late, and you would only have yourself to blame. Pay attention to what is happening, and listen carefully. Don’t worry about scratching your nose and buying a house by mistake. That doesn’t happen. And before the time comes for you to get involved, decide how you are going to bid. You could raise your hand, you could catch the auctioneer’s eye and nod aggressively, you could wave your card or program, but stick to one method. Auctioneers can become confused if one moment it’s a nod, the next a nose scratch, or an ear pull!
Buying a property at auction can net you a bargain, but only providing you have done your homework beforehand. Don’t allow yourself to be caught out on basic errors, and the chances are you will find it an exciting experience, and walk away with a bargain. Never worry if you miss a particular property, for there is always another one around the corner, and there is nothing worse than paying far too much just because you fell in love with it.
